The summer school is aimed at learning the fundamentals and the recent advances in the use of multivariate statistics in sensory analysis and consumer science. University Residential Centre of Bertinoro (Italy) July 13 - 15, 2011
The summer school is aimed at learning the fundamentals and the recent advances of multivariated statistics to sensory analysis and consumer science. It will provide the appropriate techniques to analise sensory data set, and consumer preference data set. It will also provide the appropriate knowledge of the models used in the experimental auction literature for the sensory data analysis. Results interpretation will be discussed and exercises on appropriate softwares will be included.
The course is open to industrial researchers, consultants, graduate students, PhD students, academics, and other practitioners, with a master degree in agriculture, food science and technology, food chemistry, economics, statistics, or equivalent degrees. Students with a bachelor degree who are preparing their master degree dissertation will also be considered.
Programme:
-
Sensory analysis introduction and case studies.
-
Principal components analysis for the multivariated analysis (PCA).
-
Examples of the use of PCA in sensory science.
-
The method of preference mapping.
-
Multivariated regression (based on PCA) and preference mapping.
-
